ebook Review of Gay Love

Review by Carol Tierney

Gay Love is a collection of five short stories, each exploring a different aspect of male on male loving.

“Put a ring on it” is a sweet little story dealing with the transition from mates and football buddies to lovers. “Aduniad” describes a more established couple starting to develop a D/s dynamic. “Automatic Transmission” is an unusual tale of auto-fellatio and the bond it creates between two devotees of the skill. “Fisherman’s Friend” is a romantic tale of new love (and lust) growing out of heart break “One More Ride” quickly takes us from first glance to first fuck with a side order of gleaming chrome motorbike.

There’s something for everyone in this collection, whether you prefer slow paced romance or fast and filthy. My personal favourite was One More Ride, which captured that intoxicating mixture of excitement and fear that you only get at the start of a new relationship, but all the stories were well written and enjoyable to read.

Ebook review – Gay Love Review by Rachel Sparkes

This collection of five short stories dealing with gay love takes you on a roller coaster journey from the ordinary; the football, beer and takeaway curry in ‘Put a Ring On It’, slap bang into the middle of something completely different in ‘Automatic Transmission’, which deals with the subject of auto-fellatio.

I have never read a story about this particular subject before and I thought it was very well done, being both fascinating and sexy at the same time.  The characters were believable and the sex scenes conjured up the heady atmosphere of the nightclub, and the thrill of finally getting what you want.

I loved ‘Put a Ring on It’ with it’s everyday, ‘beer drinking boys’ characters, then was seduced by the sweet romanticism of Fisherman’s Friend, which I thought was brilliantly written.

The other stories, ‘Aduniad’ and ‘One More Ride’ were good, but for me, compared to the others in the book, they didn’t give you the chance to really get into the story, focusing more on the build up rather than the actual sex.

All in all this anthology is a good introduction to the genre, at times sweet, at times dirty, and it leaves you wanting more.

To follow my dream and to just keep improving as a writer, penning stories which open people up emotionally, mentally and spiritually.  If one of my stories makes someone smile or inspires them to change or look at the world a bit differently, I’ll feel I’ve really achieved something! Interview with Elizabeth Coldwell

What was your childhood ambition?

I wanted to be an archaeologist – until I realised it meant digging up dead bodies.

What ambitions do you still have?

Loads – to work on a couple of novel ideas I currently have on the back burner, to write a story which people will come to consider as a classic of the genre, to branch out into comedy writing by collaborating with a friend on a  project we’ve been talking about for a while. I could go on… Continue reading
