eBook Review: Spirit Lovers by Various

Spirit Lovers is a collection of five erotic short stories based around the supernatural. The first, The Incubus Candle by Fulani is my favourite. Without giving two much away, Lauren inadvertently summons a couple of incubi, who are there to see to her every sexual need. And they certainly do that… I found this the most erotic of the stories due to the whole two-men-one-woman thing, and because the writing was so sensual. A great start to the anthology. eBook Review: The Greed Jar by Sommer Marsden

Reviewed by Lucy Felthouse. Find her on Twitter and Facebook.

The Greed Jar is a contemporary story, but with a touch of the ancient myth about it. The protagonist, Alice, collects unusual items for a living. She’s finally tracked down something she’s been looking for for a while – The Greed Jar. Unfortunately, though, a less than savoury person has made off with it, and Alice and her assistant Jim take off to catch the thief. Trouble is, the thief has fallen under the jar’s spell – which makes people insatiably greedy. Continue reading

eBook Review – Once Bitten by Lisette Ashton

Reviewed by Lucy Felthouse. Find her on Twitter and Facebook.

As a fan of vampires and a fan of erotica, something combining the two is always going to be high on my to-read list. Once Bitten is no exception. I believe Once Bitten is classed as a novel, but it’s a fairly short novel. That’s not a bad thing, the story fits well into its word count, any shorter and it’d have felt rushed, any longer and potentially it would have felt too padded out. The story is action packed from beginning to end.

Author interview with Z. Ferguson

What was your childhood ambition?
I first wanted to be a cartoonist for Warner Bros., then a DJ for KJR Seattle like my idol Pat O’Day, then a songwriter like Bob Dylan, and a storyteller like Mark Twain. There’s still time, isn’t there?

What ambitions do you still have?
Write and publish a few books of course, then set up a publishing house that
highlights new writers, like Dave Eggers wonderful work with McSweeneys and The Believer. Continue reading

eBook Review: Confessions edited by Miranda Forbes

Review by Dorla Moorehouse

Confessions is a foray into the sexy worlds of voyeurism, promiscuity, dominance, and threesomes. While the stories are all engaging and hot, they’re different from what I’m used to seeing from Xcite publications. Although the collection is a reflection of Xcite’s commitment to quality fiction, it also strays from the company’s vision of empowered female sexuality. Continue reading

eBook Review: Seduce Me by Dorla Moorehouse

Xcite! Books has a reputation for publishing quality erotica by excellent authors, both well-known and new. Unfortunately Seduce Me is a book that does not live up to the reputation of its publishing company. There are some excellent stories here, but quality of the anthology is negated by the presence of some poorly-written pieces. Add a series of typographical errors to the mix, and you’re left with a book that has the potential to be great but unfortunately fails to meet expectations. Continue reading

eBook Review for Ice Commander by Roger Frank Selby

eBook Review for Ice Commander by Roger Frank Selby

By Alana James

I must confess this was virgin territory for me; my first foray into science fiction erotica. After some initial discomfort as I adjusted to the new sensation, I admit it was really quite pleasurable. Of course I can’t comment on how successful the book is in terms of the science fiction, but I will say it was an enjoyable erotic read.

This collection of short stories is essentially one long connected story broken into sections, making it read more like a novella. It is set in outer space, on spaceships and stations, which to my naive eyes felt believable. The plot centred around Carter and his experiences with his female senior officers and a mysterious alien, Laura. The narrative flowed very well, with excellent read-on pull. Once I started reading, I felt compelled to carry on to the end.

The outer space setting lent itself well to some hot erotic action including plenty of spanking and threesomes. There is also low gravity on board the crafts, meaning that some interesting sexual positions are possible. I got a little tired however of women’s breasts floating alluringly upwards and found myself wondering why senior officers wouldn’t invest in some good support bras. That said, the female characters are well-described and varied, and I enjoyed Carter’s subordinate position and the effect it had on their relationships.

If you like sci-fi and erotica, this should be a tasty treat. And if you’re not normally a sci-fi fan, try to go boldly where you’ve never been before – you never know, you might enjoy it.

Ice Commander is published by Xcite as an e-book, and is also available from iTunes and Kindle.

Book Review: Blank by Sommer Marsden

Reviewed by Lucy Felthouse. Find her on Twitter and Facebook.

Kyle is a gay man who’s had his heart broken. His way of coping is to blank everything out. And his way of doing that is plenty of sex and alcohol, and sometimes both at the same time. He’s determined to screw around to fill the void in his life without getting attached to anyone.

Author interview with Kat Black

Interview with Kat Black
Q. What was your childhood ambition?
I have a vague memory that my very first ambition was to be a princess – what can I say, I was born a delusional romantic. I’ll let you guess how well I did with achieving that aim but let’s just say that luckily I always had a back-up plan. To be a writer.

Q. How did you end up being an erotic writer?
From years of being an avid erotic reader. I don’t believe that in any genre you can be successful at the latter without having been dedicated to the former. Continue reading
